hide/delete Live Messenger taskbar icon?

Hi folks ... running XP Pro/Office Pro 2002 and have just downloaded MSN
Windows Live Messenger (I think?) which seems to be up okay ...

Can someone please advise how I can configure Messenger so that there is no
icon in the taskbar ... hide or delete?

Are you referring to the taskbar "button" or the icon in the notification area (incorrectly
known as the system tray, by the clock)?

If the former, all you need to do is click the 'X' to the main Messenger window and it will
disappear to be only accessible in the notification area.

If you mean the latter, the best you can do is hide it by using the Windows facility for
doing this. To get to that, right-click the Start button, click Properties, choose the
Taskbar tab, then choose Customize, choose Windows Live Messenger and choose Hide.
