At the moment I have all people displayed in Live Messenger list.
I thought there was some setting to hide those who are offline, so I only
get the online names, but can't find it anymore. How can this be achieved?

Hi hi,

In the 2009 releases this has been (finally) moved into the Options under the Layout
category.

In the previous releases to that, this can be done by opening up the main Messenger window,
pressing the Alt key on the keyboard, choosing the Contacts menu, then Filter contacts, and
then Online contacts only.

On my PC in Messenger 7, it works very intuitively: just by clicking the +
or - icon at 'online' and offline' in the main window. But I suppose this
was too obvious and had to be "improved"...

Hey,

Hm, now that you mention it, the arrow next to the Offline category should still work in the
newer versions too actually.

Yes, it looks like you're right. On my laptop with Live Messenger, I
overlooked a vague > sign. It seems clickable and has the same function as
the + and - sign in Messenger 7. Sorry, my fault...
