I use Win XP on a new netbook computer. Windows Live Messenger Sign In
dialog box always appears when I start the computer. I don't want to
uninstall WLM (my wife may use it occasionally when we are travelling),
but I want to remove it from the start-up process. How do I do this,
please?

Open Windows Live Messenger
Menu/ Tools / Options
Sign In
Uncheck 'Automatically run Windows Live Messenger....'

Thanks, Michael, that's fixed it. I'd been trying to do it from outside
WLM and never thought to open it up. Duh!!
