Hello all... i am a developer, and do a lot of work with PPC/WM devices.

My question is regarding Windows Mobile Device Center ( WMDC ). Is there any
way to turn that thing off, so that it does not open the WMDC window EVERY
SINGLE TIME that i plug a device in?
I dont need any of the WMDC's functionality, and work with my devices solely
through the Windows Explorer interface (exploring the file system).... and
have need or use for the actual interface of WMDC, so am desperately hoping
that there is some way to hide it... or prevent it from opening.

The only thing it "does" for me, is to take up additional memory, screen
space, taskbar space, add clutter, and get in the way. I'm not saying it
doesnt have it's uses for someone, just not for me, and am getting very
upset with it always assuming i need it's help.

PLEASE tell me there is a way to turn off the auto-open of WMDC's UI.

Thanks in advance,
- Arthur Dent.

Hmm, this is interesting. When I connect my PDA, the only thing that opens
is Sync Center and it doesn't actually open a Window, it simply syncs my PDA
with Outlook according to the settings I created for the partnership. The
only time I ever see WMDC is if I specifically open it myself.

I went looking for a setting in response to your question but I didn't find
one and I really can't see anything in the partnership or sync settings that
would cause the WMDC to open or not open. There might have been an option
when I first set up the partnership and I do recall, the first few times,
WMDC opened on its own but then stopped. I don't know if I clicked
something, I just don't remember how or why it stopped.

I only mention this to point out, it doesn't open automatically or doesn't
do so anymore, when I connect my PDA and perhaps this will lead you to a
solution...at least it provides hope!<LOL>
