Hi All,

Can anyone tell me (in very simple terms) how I can make software available
to some profiles and not to others? I would like to keep some of the system
maintenance programs in the Administrator account only and not confuse the
wife by having them in hers also. We also have differing preferences for the
browsers that we use etc so it would be neater to have her software only
visible in her account and vice versa.

Thanks

The Start menu programs shortcuts are located in different folders. One
makes entries visible for all users. In addition, each user profile has it's
own Start menu folder. By copying and moving shortcuts from the all users
folder to a profile folder, you can make different programs appear in
different profiles.

These are the folders in question:

All users:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu

User profile:
C:\Users\<userprofile>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\W indows\Start Menu

Hi,

You really can't hide them per se, but you can have the icons only showing
in your account by moving them from the default folders to your profile's
folders. Instead of:

C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows \Start Menu\Programs
C:\Users\Default\Desktop

Move it to:

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\ Start Menu\Programs
C:\Users\<user>\Desktop
