50%. And that's when I'm not doing anything at all. The odd thing is that
it's not showing up as activity in WLM 8.1 itself. I was puzzled at first
because the system was clearly taxed, but I didn't see anything sapping the
CPU. When I enabled "Show processes from all users" in Task Manager, a
process named "System" (also owned by SYSTEM) appeared, and it was sucking
down 50% (varying from 40% to 60% at times, but never below 30% once it got
revved up, and constantly at 50% when I'm not doing anything at all). When I
close WLM 8.1, System's CPU usage drops back to around 0%, and the slowdown
in other applications stops.
I removed WLM 8.1 and reinstalled version 8, and the problem went away.
I then removed 8 and reinstalled 8.1, and the problem returned.
I reverted to 8, and the problem went away again.
Clearly... my Core2Duo E6300 doesn't get along well with WLM 8.1.
