High-priority Updates - are they the same as ciritcal updates

When I used to be more involved in Windows Updates (and it was a fair time
ago) I thought there was a category called 'critical updates' and a category
called high-priority updates.
Are they 2 different categories, and if so are the high-priority updates
quite essential to be applied?

They're called High Priority updates now.
It is recommended that all High Priority updates be applied.
