Higher Resolution - Screen Scrolling RC1

Strange... I'm testing Vista on my laptop (RC1). It's got an ATI Mobility
Radeon 9200 in it and it's using the microsoft drivers (version
6.0.5536.16385)

By default windows set's my screen resultion to 1024 x 768 @ 60hz. This
isn't too bad for a 15 inch LCD but I'd like to set it to 1280 x 1024.

When I do, it seems that windows makes the background larger than the LCD
screen on the laptop. (It's hard to explain) the width seems fine, meaning
I can see everything, but the height is "too big". In order to reach
anything at the very top of the screen I have to move the mouse all the way
up and wait for the screen to "scroll" up to the top. It's as if I'm in
Excel and I'm trying to select 1000 lines by dragging all the way to the
bottom.

I've looked around everywhere that I can think of. ATI does not have a
driver available for this video card and nothing else makes sence.

Any Idea's??

Let me know.

Considering 15" laptop displays can't run at 1280x1024 I'm not surprised.
Even CRT/normal 15" lcd can't display at that res.

Thanks for the response, It does sound like it shouldn't work. It does work
however on previous OS's including Linux.

Everything is just very small.

Besides the fasct that it should not work, does it make sence that the
screen would "scroll"?

What other options are there to "clean" up the display?

Let me know what you think.
