Highlight contrast

I'm not sure if opaque is the right term but several places in Vista
including Windows Mail when you highlight something (i.e. newsgroup name in
the folder view on left) the highlight is very light and hard to tell what
is actually highlighted whereas in Outlook Express it was highly contrasted
and easy to see. Is there an adjustment somewhere in Vista to increase the
contrast in this type of highlight?

Thanks... Bob

Right click Desktop > click Personalize > Windows Color and Appearance >
click the 'Open classic appearance properties for more color options' link >
click 'Advance' > click in the 'Item:' list box > click 'Selected Items' >
click in the "Color 1:" list box and choose your color.

When I click Color & Appearence the box I get does not have an"Open classic
appearance..." choice, I have Color scheme, Effects, and Advanced.

You need to click on the TEXT link at the bottom that says "open
classic appearances properties for more color options" then do NOT
leave it on Windows Aero. Try Windows classic or the high contrast
options. Then click advanced to make custom changes to color for
various desktop elements. If you want to further customize the color,
click on little arrow next to the color block, then other to get to
the custom color selector. You can NOT do any of this if you leave
things in the default AERO color scheme. If you want to really
customize you need to pick another color scheme at the start.

Within the popup box that comes up when I click "Windows Color & Appearance"
contains no text link at the bottom or anywhere else.

Then it seems either your version of Vista doesn't support it or
something is wrong with your install. What version of Vista do you
have?

Home Premium, HP factory installed.

If I choose Windows Classic from the list color scheme list from the box
that pops up when I choose Windows Color & Appearence it does highlight
better but it it looks like the old Windows and does highlight better but
I'd rather have the Vista design.
