Home Network Can't be seen - could this be related to Windows Upda

We have a home network with 6 PCs and 1 MAC. On Friday, June 2, the network
was working fine - all PCs could see all the other PCs and I was exchanging
files back and forth. On Saturday afternoon, June 3, it seems like all of a
sudden, no PC can see any other PC in My Network Places. Every PC can get to
the internet through our router and switch but only the MAC can "see" the
other computers in the network. All of the computers on the network CAN
print to the shared printers, they just can't see each other. We've gone
through all kinds of diagnostics on the router and switch and the only thing
I can think of was that one of the PCs appears to have had a Windows Update
automatically run at 3 am on Saturday morning. I think it was the "genuine
advantage" update. Could this update have done something like turn off file
sharing on all the PCs? Has anyone seen anything like this? Any ideas for
me to try?

sue yes it has happened to us. on one computer try a system restore using
(6-2-06 date)if the system restore doesn't take then do away with the update
on another computer if that works uninstall the update from that date and
time if not let me know and I'll see what else may help.

Thanks so much for the suggestion. I had the same thought on Saturday and I
did try the system restore on one of the desktops right when this happened,
but didn't try on more than one computer because it didn't help. On the
desktop where I did the restore on the weekend, I can't restore prior to 6/4.
I just did a restore to 6/2 on two of the laptops and it didn't solve the
problem. I'd like to try to completely uninstall the update and see what
happens but I can't figure out how to do the uninstall of just that update.
Can you tell me how?

Well I also have a problem with my XP machine's being invisible to the
other networked(win98) machine though the other way it seems to work..
The XP machine manages to see the Win98 files.. And the WIN98 machine can
still get through the shared internet connection on the XP..
