Goes through all its gyrations and at the very end comes up with an error
message that there was a problem and the disc may be unusable. Turning the
things over, it looks like nothing at all was burned, after several minutes
of DVD writer drive activity.

Tried DVD -R, +R, -RW, +RW, Cd -R , CD -RW to same end.

What's going on and how do I fix it? Thanks.
John

Sounds like it could be a defect with the DVD writer. What type of content
are you trying to write to disc? Can you burn data in other burning
utilities?

Data. And you're probably right; I tried another writer software and it had
errors too. Crud.

Thanks for your help.

John--

Here's the thing. I'm not sure your hardware DVD drive is the problem.
There are a series of T-shooting steps you can use to check that out, but
percentage wise, the problem with burning or using the DVD or a CD drive are
probably software. I didn't understand the ref to Live. What exactly is the
error message? The fact it's not burning does not at all mean that the hdw
is faulty.

Also, filter values in the reg can interfere with any aspect of burning with
any type of burning software, and recently I've seen it interfere with even
an Ipod showing up when plugged into a PC. Check to make sure you don't have
any, and if you do, delete them:

Good luck,

CH
