When I boot Vista, I'm getting the following error: "Error Loading
ntfsdrv32.dll, the specified file could not be found". What is this file?
Vista seems to run ok. Is it a vista file or some kind of malware thing?
How can I get it back if it's needed?

Thanks!
~Bob

Hi,

Don't know of that file, and find very little about it on a google search.
Have you checked the startup tab of msconfig for a line that loads it?

Its a Windows System file.

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories and right-click
on the Command Prompt and choose "Run as administrator".
Type in: SFC /SCANNOW and press your Enter key.

If that does not work, try repairing your system. Boot from your Windows
Vista DVD, select the System Repair Option > on the setup screen, select
'Repair Computer > Select your installation of Windows > select Startup
Repair option and follow instructions.

In msconfig, theres a line that runs the command "rundll32.exe
ntfsdrv32.dll,onik".
Is this a malware thing? I ran sfc /scannow, and it gives no errors.

Andre wouldn't that only work if you have Restore Points? If not then that
option is useless. Since Restore points and Shadow Copies are on by default
this shouldn't be a issue.

Bob are you running a 32 Bit or 64 Bit version of Vista? That error is NTFS
Drive error. Have you run chkdsk on your drives? If not it would be
suggested. Sounds like one of them might have a bad sector that is causing
this. Possibly even the Vista drive.

Are you referring to System File Checker? If so, I am not aware of it having
a dependency on System Restore, I have been using it since Windows 2000
Professional which did not include System Restore and it worked.

I am running 32bit vista. Can someone search their vista install for that
file? Some posts say that they never heard of that file while others say its
a system file. Thanks!

Hi,

As the file is not found, there is no harm to unchecking the line.

As to whether it's a system file, I can find no reference to a library file
by that name anywhere in Microsoft's MSDN library, and only vague references
to it in similar issues on a google search.
