Home Server

I've seen post here that Windows Home Server makes a good Backup solution.

I have set one up at home and so far works great.

Problem I'm having is access to the server remotly.

Is RDP blocked or some firewall setting preventing access remotly ?

I can RDP to the box on the lan just fine but even though I've opened Port
3389 on the Router I can't access it remotly.
(strange because it works on the lan)

I can RDP remotly to my XP Pro Notebook connected to the same router if I
change the IP to my notebook.

(My ISP does not block ports)

Yes, but you are restricted to what you can do with the Home Server Console

I have setup 4 others for family and friends but these people are USERS and
I need to tweak / setup stuff on PC's as well as HS without driving 200
miles!

If I can access on LAN - can't see why not router !

RDP to the server would be good solution... guss it have to be use VNC or
something for now.

If you go into the remote access settings in the WHS console, do the
configuration thing, and run a test, do you get any useful information?

If the router supports UPnP, the WHS will configure it properly. If not,
when the test fails, there's a link in there somewhere to the Help that
tells you how to configure the router manually. (Sorry can't remember the
exact details and don't have a WHS here to look at). The router firewall is
likely not in play when you access over the LAN. Also, WHS remote access
isn't RDP, it needs port 80, 443, and 4125.

How do folks configure this when thay have a SBS 2008 and 2 or more WHS on
their NAT'd network?
