If you're asking why you shouldnt install a beta you really need hitting
twice around the head:
1. This is an operating system, 80% of you will format your old hard drive
in an attempt to get windows vista beta onto it
2. This is microsoft, there're countless bugs in vista at least one of which
i assure you you'll find.

Why am I telling you this? Because it occured to me, as windows vista
completely "f'd" up on installation that had I not had a test machine i'd
have lost windows XP and all my files etc.
Things I noticed about vista;
Did boot from startup but because these microsoft "egghead" tried to be
funky about the installation screen it failed (exact reason unknown, but
trying to run a more sophisticated installation program in semi-dos is just
plain stupid)
After several failed attempts trying to copy files from the dvd to the hard
drive (errors in between "sorry dude, we couldnt quite sort out copying files
from a dvd disc to a hard drive, we only went over it once in microsoft
school")
Tried doing a "straightforward" upgrade from windows xp, had all the
necessary requirments for it but vista just didnt want to install.
My advice: Stay well clear, this is just a big scheme by windows to try and
get feedback on how the OS works. As soon as my errors occured windows tried
to send a message back to its makers "we failed miserby lords, we couldnt
even copy ourselves onto the users hard drive"
