My laptop is fairly new (got it in May) and it came preloaded with Vist
Home. Last night, I was on the computer when it froze up. The ONLY thin
I did the moment before the blue screen of death appeared was I had go
an Apple software update thing and I declined to install it at tha
moment. (nothing unusual) I don't know if it has anything to do with m
problem but other than that, I wasn't doing anything out of the norm..
hadn't even gone to a strange website

Now, when I turn the computer on, I get this

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might b
the cause. To fix the problem

1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer. (
did this and got loading files screen but then it went black. Nothing.
2. Choose language settings, the click "next"
3. Click "repair your computer.

If you do not have this disc, contact your system admin or compute
manufacturer for assistance

File: \windows\systems32\winload.ex

Status: 0xc000000

Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application i
missing or corrupt

Also, I attempted to find help in forums online but most of them tal
about someone was installing something or upgrading windows softwar
when it happened... and also something about a PS2 usb or keyboard fi
which I don't have. Just this laptop

Thanks in advance for your help

Press F8 while booting.
If you can boot into Safe Mode use system restore to go back to a date
before the machine failed.
If you are lucky this will solve your problems.
Otherwise you may have a hardware failure, possibly the hard drive, and will
have to get technical support--if you machine is less than a year old it
should be under warranty.
