Right click the Desktop and select Personalization. Select Window Color and
Appearance, select the Advanced Button. In the 'Item drop down menu, look
for "Icon Spacing (Horizontal) and (Vertical). You can increase the spacing
there.
If you are using the Aero Theme, you will need to select the "Open classic
appearance properties" in the Personalization window to see the Advanced
Button.
