Hi,

Does everyone know the hot key for creating a new folder in Windows
Explorer? The command is burried too deep in the rclick menu if you have to
create new folders very often. Or at least, if we can customize the toolbar
or anything to have an icon for creating a new folder (as in XP). Any help
is much appreciated.

JD

Hi, JD

You can do File , New, Folder

You can Alt+F, W, F

You most likely have a key on the the same row with the spacebar on your
right, it sits between the windows logo key and Ctrl key. I call it the
context key. It has an icon looks like a small context menu with an upward
pointing arrow.
Just tap the Context key ,W,F

You can _right click_ then tap the W key then the F key.

You can create a micro for a one key operation that will create a new
folder.

You can create a new folder, name it Quicknewfolder, open that folder and
create 20 or so New Folders close it. Now you can copy that folder with its
contents to any windows explorer window. You could then create a shortcut
to that folder put it on your quick launch bar or the links bar in the
navigation pane that show in windows explorer, anytime you need a new folder
Now no matter where you are just Click and grab and rename it. Kind of like
having a box of tissue in each room.

That's just a couple of ways you may be able to solve your issue. There
could be better ways that others may post later.

Good luck

I would like to make sure my Windows Explorer menu bar always has an icon for "New Folder", so that it is always handy. Explorer seems to decice on its own what menu options to expose as one-click icons on the menu bar, and I can't find a way to control it. I do not agree with it when it decides what actions are probable. Specifically, I never need the "Burn" menu, which it always puts up, but I always want a "New Folder" menu easily accessible.

Is the menu bar configurable at least to add New Folder as a permanent option?

thanks,
Andy
