Hotfix for IE 6.0 - What are "vector graphics"?

Trying to get clarification to understand whether this hotfix applies to me....

If you check ou the following KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;885932, what file types are they
referring to when they say “vector graphics?�

Are there specific file extensions that they are referring to? Want to
understand how to self diagnose whether I, in fact, need this hotfix.
