First, go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall IE7
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927177
Restart the system
This will make IE6 the installed browser now

Download and SAVE the lastest version of the Windows Update Agent:

For XP and Vista - 32 bit
http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7...gent30-x86.exe

Download and save : Update for Windows XP (KB927891)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

When the downloads are finished close the browser and any other open
programs
Install WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe
Now install WindowsXP-KB927891-v3-x86-ENU.exe
Restart the system

Initiate a manual visit to Windows/Microsoft Update by clicking the
Windows Update link on the Start Menu or, open IE and click Tools,
Windows Update
Can Microsoft/Windows Update be accessed now ?

IF NOT, please post the last 50 or so lines of the WindowsUpdate.log,
located in the WINDOWS directory [folder] into your reply.

WinXP SP2?

=> Why do you cite IEFRAME.DLL in your subject?

=> Does windowsupdate.log give any clues about the failed install of 920213?

How to read the Windowsupdate.log file
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902093

Compare errors to those listed here:
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/archive...date_codes.htm and/or go to
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com > click on Help and Support link in left
pane > Solve problems on your own.

1. Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode?

To start IE7 in No Add-ons mode:

Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons; or

Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No
add-ons).

2. Does the problem persist if you Reset IE7 Settings (RIES)?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 <= Read before using!

3. If you uninstall IE7 (which automatically returns you to IE6) and don't
reinstall it, does this behavior persist?
