WHY ARE YOU YELLING AT US? What did we ever do to you?

(In online forums, using all capital letters is considered to be shouting
and rude.)

But we can't diagnose your problem until you give us a lot more information
about it. What version of Windows are you running? How are you trying to
install the update? How exactly does it fail? What are the symptoms of the
failure? Are there any error messages or significant events in the Event
Viewer. Which implementation of SQL Server 2005 are you using? What other
programs are running? Are there any clues in the installer log (which might
be found in C:\Windows\KB970892.log or some similarly named file.)

Give us more information and we might be able to help you.

We would need your operating system (at a minimum) and preferrably your
service pack level and edition of the operating system you are running

If you are unsure how to obtain this information, here is a short
tutorial...

Start button --> RUN
(no "RUN"? Press the "Windows Key" + R on your keyboard)
--> type in:
winver
--> Click OK.

The picture at the top of the window that opens will give you the general
(Operating System name) while the line starting with the word "version" will
give you the rest of the story. Post _both_ in response to this message
verbatim. ;-)

Have you reviewed the KB article for the patch in question?
