I have a question here a few hours ago I was having problems getting into my
hotmail to begin with because it was saying that I didn't have an inbox yet.
that part has cleared up. but when I click the e mail icon in messenger it
redirects to the default mail client I have instead of the windows live
hotmail page. is there anything that can be done about this? or is it
something on my computer that is doing this.

Hi Skywolf,
I had exactly the same problem last night, but I downloaded the newest
messenger and everything sorted itself out. You could try that. I still don't
know how my Outlook Express got involved with it, but all is well now.

the redirection itself seems to have straightened itself out. but I still
have the problem with messages getting through to me at times. don't know if
I have that problem with my other addresses or not but I will check that out.
the strange thing is. I got an e mail in thunderbird that I had in the live
inbox. when I deleted it in thunderbird it was in the deleted folder in
hotmail too so I am at as loss as to what to do here :s

Greetings,

Live ID was down for a few hours, so anything using it was broken, including Hotmail.

You might have to sign out and sign back into Messenger when this sort of thing happens
though as existing logins are probably broken by this as you move to another Live ID site.

yeah I did that the hotmail link is working fine in messenger and I can
recieve messages ok as long as the default mail client isn't changed in the
programs section in the control panel. I just wondered why I can delete a
message in thunderbird that was from my hotmail account and have it end up
deleted in the account on the website.

Hi Rage,

You mean the technical reason for the outage? Such information is rarely, if ever, released.

Therefore, I will give you my explanation -- someone tripped over the power cord.
That or sunspots.
