I notice that in some of the KBxxxxxxxxx logs the statement, "hotpatching is
disabled."
How does hotpatching get disabled?
Is it someting I could have checked at some point in time?
Does it prevent something from getting fixed?
Or is it just part of the routine in those logs?

Bingo ! Since MS offers no explanation of "Hotpatching" here
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824684
if updates install correctly, then do not be concerned with the error
codes that appear in the KBxxxxxx.logs
*Usually* the last error codes in the logs are the ones that are relevant.
