Hi all,

I have a problematic USB flash issue on my computer:
USB flash drive runs well in safe mode
However, in normal mode, after a 10 seconds to 40 seconds period of
plugging in the flash drive, the flash drive will become usably
sluggish.
I cannot effectively locate (with just tasklist utilities) what
services / processes that are triggered by the USB flash plugging in
is/are causing the problem. I am wondering if I can use the event log
of Vista, or some other ways to locate the source of this problem?

Thanks in advance!

- John

Vista is a NT based O/S and you can enable its auditing that will be
recorded in logs viewable by the Event Viwer.

Thank
Auditing is enabled, but I have no idea how it can tell about the
details of services/processes triggered during the time a USB flash
drive device is plugged in. Can you elaborate on that, or can you give
me some problem solving ideas?

I just know that auditing is generally capable of recording event/
process successes VS failures, and logon events.

At best, the only thing you can do is look at process success or failure
based on the data and time of the event as you plug in the USB device and
use it.

You might get something off of this.

Systinternals has other utility tools too that could help you.

For Process Explorer, you can right-click a line and get more information.
