I can do a test print OK via the driver properties, but any applicatio
I choose to print from, Word / Outlook etc throws up an erro
dialogue..

"The selected printer 'HP universal printing PCL5 (v4.7)' is not
supported HP device.

..I'm unsure as to whether this an HP or Vista problem. Has anyon
else seen it or any suggestions on how to make it work

Cheer

I suppose you are using the driver from the HP site? Have you tried the
driver included with Vista? If I use the HP Universal driver for my
4500, it will print, but only black and white.

Yes I was using the driver from the HP website. It seemed Vista itsel
had no drivers to speak of, aside from the virtual XPS thing. It's n
great shakes, Vista 64 is now in the bin and I have reverted to 32 bi
which I'd run quite happily for a year or two until I got a new compute
the other day. I figure if something as simple as printing is too muc
like hard work I'd probably explode by the time I got some proper app
installed. Thanks for the reply anyway
