I replaced my HP 4Plus with a HP 4650hdn, itīs connected to the PC with a USB cable.
As I use both OS, XP 32bit and Vista 32bit, on the PC, I want to install the printer to both OS as I had installed the HP 4Plus to both OS before.
I downloaded the "HP Universal Printer Driver for Windows - PCL 6" that should work with XP an Vista, installed it to XP an the printer works fine (so my USB-ports, the cable and the printer work).
I started to install the same driverpackage to Vista without any error shown during that procedure, but I cannot send any data to the printer at all, the printer is marked "offline" at the printer settings after finishing the driver installation (I could not print the testpage at the end of the installation). The online help from HP conforms this with the message, that the printer is not connected to the PC (but it truely is, otherwise the printer wouldnīt be able to work with XP).
If I try to print a document I get the error message, that "the selected Printer "HP Universal Printer v4.7 is not a supported HP printer" and after this the windows error code for an unfinished process 0x00000006.
I used the same settings for Vista that I used for XP.
Does anyone have an idea?
Thanks in advance.
