hp laserjet 2300 series pcl 53 install failure

This is an optional hardware update via Windows Update. I am running latest
XP Pro and for some reason cannot complete the installation of the HP printer
update. it downloads fine but will not install. I do not receive an error
message other than the update failed to install successfully.

the printer is a network printer and we also have Symantec Corporate 10.

is there some setting/permission i need to change to allow this install?

Don't worry. Any updates for hardware should be obtained from the manufacturer, not
Microsoft.

Go to http://www.hp.com/ and look for updated drivers for the LaserJet 2300 at HP.
