this update will not install on my computer, and now windows media player
will no longer play dvd's. an error message comes up saying "Windows Media
Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy
protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an
updated driver for your video card." i have installed the latest driver for
my video card, but is still won't work. any ideas?

Is that updates from Microsoft?
If so - ignore it and go to HP's website and find their latest drivers
there.

BTW - that erropr has nothing to do with your monitor.
What DVD playing software do you have installed?
For that matter - what OS do you have?

i have windows vista. dvd's were playing fine yesterday. a message came up
every time i turned on the computer about the monitor not being installed
correctly, and every time i tried to fix it, it didnt work. so then last
time it came up, instead of choosing "ask me again later" i chose to no to
install it, or something like that, and since then dvd's havent played at
all.

when i go into control panel to try update the monitor driver the properties
option under monitor is greyed out

I had the same problem and spent 3 full days on the phone with HP Tech
support (or lack thereof) with very little help and plenty of frustration.

I finally figured out a solution on my own:
Uninstall your monitor exixting driver and replace it with the Windows
Generic PNP Monitor. Then Uninstall your video card drivers (in my case
Nvidia).
Now reboot your computer. When it returns, Windows (Vista) will prompt you
to reinstall your video drivers. Allow Windows to search and find the
correct ones to install. After installation is complete, your monitor and
video drivers will be correct again. Now try to play a copy-protected DVD...
it WORKS !! Also, after the reinstall, I am no longer "nagged" to update my
HP w1907 driver. I hope this helps you !! :-)
