for my 2300. i tried uninstalling the hp non update drivers. then tried
running update drivers again and it choked once again. so know my question
is how can I fully get rid of the windows update driver so i can just put in
the newest one from the hp site??

I'd suggest firstly NEVER choose an MS driver update.
Always use the relevant latest one from the manufacturer's website.

Uninstall your printer, then install downloaded HP drivers again.
If still no luck, look up the update reference number on the MS updates
site,
then delete it using Add/Remove programs.
Hope this helps

Hi Milne,
Sorry to hear you still have probs.
When you connect to the Win Update site, you should see a
link
'View Installation History'.
All your previous updates will be itemised there.

As a temp solution, I installed HP2100 PCL6 drivers for the HP2300 printer
and HP4100 PCL6 drivers for the HP4200 printers. I still don't know how to
get rid of the windows update HP drivers dated August 22, 2004. They don't
show up in add/remove programs. As you know, removing the drivers and
reinstalling them from HP doesn't work.
