well, i installed HP Quickplay on my tc4400 even that it is not installed on
the machine. the quickplay software is not even availible on its driver and
software page. i dowloaded HP quickplackplay from the tx1000z driver and
software page.

anyways on my HP notebook only the DVD module is showing in the start menu
in vista. there is no shortcut to the main menu or any shortcut to any other
module. is this because i have vista business edition installed. do you
think upgrading to ultimate will fix the issue.

my friend has HP quickplay on their laptop. when the load quickplay there is
a main menu, dvd module, webcam module, mce module, upgrade module, and
more. the upgrade module was accessable through the dvd module as well.

does the version of vista you have and what kind of components you have
installed on your PC determen what suff get installed in HP quickplay or
something because i took a part the installer and saw all of these
components. yet when i installed quickplay only the dvd module installed.

anyone have any ideas on this?

Just start QuicKPlay by opening the DVD Icon then choose the "i" icon on the
left side. Choose Custom Menu and then move your menu choices from the left
column to the right column exit and restart QuickPlay and Icons will show.

Hi,

Quickplay and the options it comes with has nothing to do with Vista, this
is software provided by HP on machines it builds that support it. It should
not be installed on a machine that it is not intended for as it may cause
other conflicts.

i do not seem to have any options in the custom menu, only in the "i" menu
and the "i" menu is for the dvd player settings.

right now i'm thinking it might just be the version of vista that i have. my
friend has home premium on her laptop and i have business edition on mine.

what kind of conflicks can it cause? so far i am not seeing any issues.
besides i am running XP and vista in a dualboot. i really only use vista to
develope applications and beta test and stuff.

i'm running other unsupported software as well, but they are not having any
issues.

Its always a hit and miss, but you never know when something you install in
the future might trigger some compatibility issues.

What Andre said.

Software like this often alters registry entries when installed and adds
driver files to the system. Tracing it back later when a conflict arises may
be difficult if not impossible.

Interesting. I have a tx1000z laptop which came with quickplay and
vista home premium. Since I purchased the laptop factory refurbished I
made sure to test everything on it to make sure it works properly. I
can report that it does do everything it is supposed to do and it seems
to have all modules of quickplay installed. So what you suspect could
certainly be true.

well, i know why certian components are not availible within quickplay on my
laptop. i hacked into the installer and looked into everything.

it had stuff for the dvd player, webcam, mce, main menu, and a few other
things. most of which i did not have. thats why those extra features are not
availible on my computer. and if only three features work dvd player, web
update (which is integrated into each module), and pqmanager, there is no
need to show the main menu i suppose.

right now i have business edition, if i upgrade to ultimate edition, the mce
features of HP quickplay might open up. the application may require a
reinstall after the vista in-place upgrade so that it can detect that i
upgraded vista.

i took the hp quickplay software from the tx1000z downloads page because it
is a tablet like my tc4400. besides i had a tx1000z over the summer, i only
had it for a week, i purchased it with ultimate edition. i only had the
tx1000z for a week before i returned it from hating so much.

anyways, can you tell me all of the modules you have listed in quickplay?
