HP RX3715 Cant Connect, ActiveSync Error

hi guys i have an RX3715 Ipaq that wont connect to my XP SP3 Laptop, every
time i try to connect i get the error

CANNOT VERIFY THE VERSION OF ACTIVESYNC ON YOUR DEVICE, A PROGRAM SUSH AS A
FIREWALL MAY BE BLOCKING A PORT ACTIVESYNC USES TO CONNECT TO THE DEVICE, OR
YOU MAY NEED TO UPGRADE TO A MORE RECENT VERSION OF ACTIVE SYNC.

i have tryied everything i can think of, i have re installed activesync 4.5,
checked windows firewall and anyother software that could cause a problem,

any ideas?
