HP Vista laptops downgrading to XP

For those with new HP laptops running Vista who want to run XP & can find
very few XP drivers for their laptop model on the HP site......email support
from the HP website & they will give you a link to XP drivers not shown on
the regular page for your specific model.
Now have a brand new HP laptop running XP...yippee all my favourite apps
work again.

All my favorite programs never stopped working on this new HP laptop running
Vista.

You ever think about running the programs using XP compatibility mode on
Vista?

And then I found a lot of good software here as well, for Vista.

DELL, for one, is still selling xp computers - they also have available
several models with preinstalled Ubuntu Linux.

Mr. Arnold I'm with you - HP laptop here great with Vista - have had no
problems with any programs previously running on XP.

All of my programs work on my new HP laptop running Vista. However, the
babysitter security stuff drives me nuts. I'm slowly finding out how to get
rid of it. I've run XP without any problems for years, so I know how to
protect myself. I do NOT need Vista to hold my hand and prevent me from
using my own OS efficiently.

I have only had two issues with programs I used on XP that didn't work on
Vista. One was Active Ports that flat-out wouldn't run on Vista.

So my solution for that was to use CurrPorts from the Best Vista Download
site that did the same thing. CP does it even better and has more features.

The second program was Mailwasher, which I quickly found the solution for
the problem to make it work on Vista.

Anytime I see a post like this being made, it's just an indication that the
poster didn't know how to resolve the issues and ran with his or her tail
between their legs,

Granted Vista may have a some issues, but it's nothing that I don't think
there is not a solution or workaround for it.

When Windows 2000 and XP were released, it was the same thing, and they
became stable, and software vendor development caught up with those O/S(s).
So, I don't see this being any different with Vista.

I'd recommend users to be very cautious since HP also have this on
their website if you search for Downgrade VISTA to XP:

HP Notebook PCs -- Do Not Downgrade to Windows XP and Restoring Windows
Vista

so be cautious.

If you are correct and HP is using the official VISTA Downgrade offer
then note that you have to have a licit copy of XP licensed to you in
order to install XP. It is OK if it is already in use and when you get
the Already in Use flag on activation you phone MS Activation and give
them the VISTA Downgrade information you need to get from HP (or any
other manufacturer offering this Downgrade route).

When you finish how about posting a tutorial on eliminating all the Vista
security garbage. AFAIC all you need is NOD32 , Spy Sweeper and SpyBot (if
it's compatible with Vista). Nod 32 is a fantastic AV program. Once
installed it's completely transparent and is not a resource hog.

It first it didn't work and I was ****ed, but I think at some point I
rebooted for some reason and it kicked in and worked. I am using the free
version of MW too.
