[HTC not synchronizing] with Vista Windows Mobile Device Center

Hello,

I own a HTC Touch Diamond 2 (windows mobiel 6.1) that synchronized well with
my laptop (Windows Vista) the first weeks I had it.

I synchronized my addresses and appointment with Finchsync and Thunderbird,
without any problem.

Last two weeks, no way to have a connection with the Windows Mobile Device
Center of my Vista laptop : I heard the sound of connection and just after
the sound of deconnection and the center shows the message "not connected".

If I choose "file transfer" on the HTC sync application, I can read or write
the memory card on my HTC Touch from the laptop.

With another laptop (Windows 7 RC) a partnership is created and
synchronization is enable.

With a GPS (Via Michelin) under windows mobile 5, the laptop with Vista
offers to open a partnership and establishes a connexion with it.

To solve the problem under Vista, I tried different ways :

- uninstall and install Windows Mobile Device Center from a fresh version
download from Microsoft web site. I also did it after the suppression of the
WindowsMobile folder in Windows folder.

- uninstall and install drivers (mobile device, LAN card ou USB drivers)

- synchronization attempts with other USB wires.

I did many tries with and without "advanced network
functionality" in USB-to-PC connection.

Nothing works.

Any idea is welcome.

I have the same problem and heard recently that Vista SP2 could be the
problem. Have you updated to SP2 recently?

When you say the same problem, is it also with a HTC device?

I updated when SP2 was released i.e. a long time before my problem.

Well it's not SP2 then, can't remember who said it was.
Have same problem on HTC Touch Pro & a Touch Pro 2. Both work fine on XP
with ActiveSync. Will try with a Palm or Samsung device when I find them.

I have a similar situation here. HTC smartphone syncs nicely with Vista.
Untill I installed SP2 on Vista. Sync couldn't complete, and Sync center
suggests to delete partnership and to cretae ait afgain , which I've done at
least a dozen times.

This thread lead me to uninstall SP2. I deleted the partnership again and
recretaed it, but syncing doesn't give any result (still running after four
hours). ActiveSync on teh HTC gives support code 0x8503001c, which leads me
to
http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/e...f-4d08ea1712d6
where there is suggested to delete all contacts and agenda items. Thats is
no option for me - it would make the PDA and Outlook completely useless.

Kind regards

Hans

Well in this thread I'm "gren" posting on the 6th and 8th of August 2009,
and the only way I found to fix this problem was to hard reset my phone. Now
I'm re installing the programs I had before the hard reset, gosh!!
Which led me to post this message:
http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/e...a-ef9eca7d9085
Regards,
Gz

Thanks. I will use a reset as last resource, because of the major impact it
might have.

In the meantime I found out that only Contacts and Calendar items cause
this. I'll keep you posted if I find out more.

Sorry for the delay.

Activesync offers me the choice beetween synchronisation, file exchange and
internet sharing (it's my translation from the French messages).

When I choose sync, I have a window telling me a USB connection is going on
(connecting to host) . Then that the user is authenticated. Eventually a
window with two choices : disconnect and hide the status, that disappears
very quickly.

Hi,

Reply to myself to tell that I found the cause of the culprit. The cause
appears to be OneNote Mobele, weher somtehing was broken by one of the
updates of Vista sp3.

This is how I found out:
- I reset the HTC
- Afterwards, I could recreate the partnership and sync.
- I did some tweaking and it was broke.
- I removed OneNote mobile, and all was ok again.
- I reinstalled OneNote mobile to make sure, and syncing was broken again.

Someone might find this useful.

Kind regards

Hans
