Thanks, Mark. I am an unexperienced vista user, how can get into
authentication to disable anonymous authentication.
I did open Internet Options - Security - Local Intranet - and uncheck
"Automatically Detect Intranet Network. and the HttpEvent ID 15016 "unable
to initialize the security package kerberos for server side authentication.
the error continues in Event viewer.

Security tab, highlight local intranet, click "Custom Level" button, scroll
down to the bottom for anonymous logon radio button.

Hi

I know this thread is getting a bit old, but this error message stil
persists for may people, so here is the scoop on this one.

Unless your machine is a part of a Domain, this message can be Safel
Ignored.
Apparently this pops up in Vista with SP1 installed and is meaningles
for most users, only those ones who are part of a Domain need t
contact MS Support for more info on this one.

Hope this helps those of US that have this stupid error popping u
constantly....

Dav

That's one down and a few more to go

I researched this also and came up with the same MS note. It is the
last error in the log and I would love to get rid of it. Any ideas?

I have the same Kerberos problem right out of the box with a new DEL
XPS M1730. 2.2ghz dual core CPU 4gb ram. Running Vista Home Premium an
loaded with Microsoft Office Ultimate. Been to DELL who say reload th
factory image from the DELL partition....done that.....Formatted th
hard drive as part of the process back to squeeky clean Vist
HP....first thing it does when it's reborn is go to microsoft update an
download the 430mb that is SP1...back to square one with my //http 1501
(Kerberos etc).......Scenario 2 ...go to microsoft suppor
online........tell them the config and they tell me they have neve
heard of Kerberos...i tell em it came with SP1 and then they go away an
find it and ask me question about what domain i'm connected to and i sa
it's just a standalone home pc that connects to internet via broadban
connection. You can safely ignore the error comes the reply....no
can't say i.......my machine hangs every day just past password entr
and i have to power off....reboot in safe mode....shutdown.....reboo
normally....then it works...then i work.....i shutdown properly whe
i've finished.......next day.........Groundhog day ! Looking on th
tinterweb some people say when in safe mode the last .exe is CRCDISK.EX
and some say this is the problem.......not convinced........i've trie
the regedit scenario and disabling the event that causes the erro
message to be recorded in the event log......fine....machine stil
freezes though......Kerberos is a piece of software that authenticate
single sign on and passes details to other pieces of interacting s/w a
aa SSO process would do. Microsoft told me that if it isn't part of bla
blah 2008 then it's not part of vista which is what vista was founde
on......Doesn't help us though does it ! ...........Microsoft 7 Bet
anyone
