I start an Express scan and it hangs after 20 minutes (15:06 - 15:26)
(progress indicator freezes, IE not responding, can't start task mgr, etc.
Must reboot)
Environment: XP Pro SP2, IE 7.

Below are what I believe to be the relevant windowsupdate.log entries. I'm
hoping this will help someone steer me in the right direction.

Similar situation here with two Windows 2000 SP4 machines.

Scan continues indefinitely. Closing IE leaves svchost occupying all
cpu time. Requires reboot.

Same thing occurs when starting in Safe Mode with Networking.

The April updates had not yet been applied.

Workaround is to disable Microsoft Update and use Windows Update.

You'll need to check for Office updates separately.

at all after hours of frustration.
