Hello, I bought a used laptop for school this year (Gateway M-6755) and all attempts to setup a wireless connection or network return in failure. Vista attempts to detect network hardware and settings but returns with a failure to detect hardware. Device Manager shows my wireless NIC (Marvell TOPDOG 802.11n) as working properly. My question is: why Device Manger would be talking to it ok, but not networking and what can I do to resolve this?
I am brand new to Vista and am at a loss as where my next troubleshooting step would be. I have a wired NIC that connects to the internet without error when I plug it in. I have just completed a fresh OS install and applied every available Windows update. I have also updated all the individual drivers I can find downloads for on the internet.
Any help would be appreciated and nothing is too basic, as previously stated, I am not sure what I am doing in Vista and could be overlooking something obvious. Thank you in advance for you time.
