HyperTerminal is not included in Vista.

HyperTerminal is a 3rd party product, from Hilgaeve. In the past, Microsoft
bundled it with Windows as a convenience to users; but it isn't (wasn't)
ever Microsoft's software.

You can still download the free version of HyperTerminal from Hilgaeve:

http://www.hilgraeve.com/htpe/

... and install it on Vista. That should get you up and running.

Hope it helps,
