I have brand new Laptop with Vista. My Office 2K Professional does not run on
Vista so I bought Home and Student Office for our PC's on our home intranet.
So, I have no Outlook, but others still have Ourlook 2000. I can not afford
to buy the latest Outlook for all.
I have Windows Calender and latest version of MS Works Calendar that came
with laptop. When you export or publish, both give the option of using the
iCalendar (.ics) format. However if you try to import iCalendar from each
other the Import Result error of "could not import calendar" message comes up
referring to file versions, etc.. I opened both export .ics files using
notepad from each application and compared them. Despite them being the same
version number of .ics file, the file structures are different. Is it my
imagination or is the Windows Calendar .ics format non-standard?
My problem is I like the functionality of the Windows Calendar with task
list, but I like the ability to export my Works calendar using the HTML
format option to a machine on our home intranet so everyone can see my
calender with a browser. Anyway to export a Windows Calendar to another form
than .ics? If I could import it to Works, then I could export it to HTML.
Since I keep sensitive information in my calendar and contacts, I am not open
to using an outside service to host my Calendar. I used Yahoo Calendar with
my Outlook 2000 as it had good security, but cannot do so for Works or
Windows Calendar. I do not trust Google because of issues I have experienced
before. Any ideas?
