Icon alignment wont stay put

Every time I turn off my computer and reboot, the icons are rearranged
in what seems to be mostly a random pattern. Any ideas as to how to
stop this.

I suppose you mean the icons on your desktop, that looks not nice.

1. You should check for malicious software, the best way to do that is by
using an online help service like this one:

2. You could try creating a new user account and see if the behaviour still
occurs there.

3. A program like Iconoid from http://www.sillysot.com/ could do the trick
too.
