Icon Check Boxes

1) Question: On my desktop, all of my icons have a little check box in the
upper-right hand corner, I find this irritating and was hoping I could remove
the check boxes from the icons.

Hi,

It sounds like you have the select by checkbox option turned on. This
will show you how to turn it off.

Open Windows Explorer
Click Tools, Folder Options
Select the "View" tab
Uncheck "Use check boxes to select items"
Click OK.
