Is there any reason I would be asked to fax a copy of my drivers license and
birth certificate to gain back accsess to my Windows messanger? an error was
rec'd saying the sign on belonged to a child and now all my information was
needed to re-instate windows messanger. Your help is appriciated.

I'm unsure of the process involved for authentication when these types of problems occur.
However, if you specifically requested assistance from Windows Live ID services or Live
Messenger support, then it probably is legitimate.

Regardless, I would make a copy and black out information they don't need to know before
faxing anything. Although hardly ideal, I might consider just opening a new Live ID and
leaving this one too, if that's an option for you.
