ID3 Tags Missing from WMP11 Library

Platform: Win XP (SP3)
WMP 11.0.5721.5268


Problem:
I have an MP3 file with ID3v2 tag metadata, such as artist, composer, etc.
The track is playable and displays ID3v2 metadata in WMP10, iTunes and Winamp
successfully. Now, in WMP11, just playing the track (Steps to reproduce: in
File Explorer, right click on the track, choose “Open With WMP�. In WMP11,
click "Now Playing" to view the metadata) displays ID3v2 metadata
successfully. However, when I try to add the track to WMP11 Library all
ID3v2 metadata (album name, artist, composer, etc.) disappears, only the
track title remains.

Has anyone encountered this problem?

As far as I know, WMP11 supports ID3v2.2

You might try a tool like MP3Tag
Inspect the tags maybe you see something strange
It also has an option to read ID3v2 and write them to ID3v3

Sometimes McAfee includes WMP in its 'Application Policy'. This results in
preventing MP3 tags from being read/displayed in order to protect against
possible malicious executables.
