IDT CODEC update reappears after installed

Question: The IDT CODEC Audio update reappeared in the "available" updates
in automatic windows update after it was installed. Will this impact any
update from vista to sp1? how do I get rid of it as it already has been
installed and the 9/2007 sigma tel driver from Gateway overlaid as instructed
by Gateway.

Steps:
1) running on vista home premium as admin (gateway shipped oem vista with
sigmatel sound driver)
2) IDT update appeared last night
3) as admin it was installed and the update disabled sigmatel driver
4) today I contacted Gateway chat supported, pointed to a 9/2007 sigma tel
driver
5) downloaded as admin, installed driver, sound back
6) reselected windows update. error, hit try again and IDT CODEC listed as
optional update again.

If you've reinstalled an older driver, it isn't surprising that the new driver
is reoffered. Just don't install it until Microsoft have fixed the problem -
keep an eye out for news in this group.

I presume service pack 1 is not being offered via Windows Update at this point?
I wouldn't recommend installing it unless it is being offered, as this likely
indicates the older driver is not compatible. Gateway may have advice on this
subject.

Incorrect date on driver, Gateway is providing sigma tel 6.10.0.5274 as the
driver to work with the microsoft codec update. (It has to be installed
after the microsoft update disables the existing driver). We'll see how it
goes tomorrow (if sp1 is offered after the update)
