IE 6.0 - Delays after shutdown

After shutdown of IE session, system freezes for about a minute before I can
go to next activity. Happens about 60%-70% of time. I close IE and click on
next activity. System just stops and sets for about a minute, then proceeds
to next action. Windows 98. I have all updates for Windows and
IE6.0.
Any suggestions appreciated.
