I have a new computer with Vista Home Premium and IE7, and I have been trying
to customize my IE toolbars like I had them on my old computer. I want to
keep the total number of toolbar rows at the top, down to two and I want to
have the links bar on the same row with the Norton toolbar, which does not
need the whole row. I unlock the toolbars, move the links bar up to the same
row with the Norton, lock the toolbars and everything looks good. The next
time I open my browser, the links bar is back down on a row by itself. Why
won't it stay where I put it??

And if you disable the Norton Toolbar...?

Hello,

Try running IE7 with add-ons disabled

Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools >
Internet Explorer 7 (No Add-ons) to start without any add-ons. Try using the
browser and see if the same problem arises.

If the problem does not occur again, start IE7 normally, go to Tools >
Manage Add-ons and disable all the add-ons. Enable each add-on one at each
time, restart IE and see if the problem occurs again. Once it occurs again
after
enabling an add-on, you have nailed the culprit.

(if the menu bar does not appear, hit the Alt key on the keyboard)

DUH! That's me slapping my forehead! Why didn't I think of that. I don't
really need to know that Phishing Protection is on & I don't use the Identity
safe anyway.
By the way:- Is that Identity safe any good? It sort of scares me to have
all my passwords under their control.

[I wouldn't allow a Norton app in my house, let alone install it on one of
my PCs, Magsmom.]
