Never had this prob in XP but now with my new Dell M1330 Vista HomeP, my IE7
freezes up probably once every day or two.
Any ideas why?
Is it, perhaps, a conflict between WDefender (I turned it off) and Norton
Int.Sec.2008?

Why don't you try a different browser? Netscape 9? Firefox? I use Netscape
and it works great and it isn't a vector for malware.

Get rid of Norton; a resource hungry, badly written mongrel program!!!!!

Use Avast Free 4 Home Anti-Virus instead.

And get rid of my beloved Add-Ins? Actually I'm sure the crashes have more
to do with Real Audio's plug in than with Internet Explorer. Heck Real
Audio on my system crashes every time it tries to access the internet but
then again that's what I get being a Beta Tester. Frankly I've seen the
stability of Vista increase as they gain more experience with the real world
uses. Most people don't understand that because WIndows is so OPEN to the
public that they have to contend with all sorts of unexpected things. I
can't even begin to imagine the nightmare of having to deal with ever piece
of new software that people are throwing at Vista and it accompanying
add-ons. My only regret was only getting 1 Gig in my laptop! <grin>

Because for the most part it behaves. And much of the problem is all the
misbehaved software I add-on to it. This latest problem is more likely the
culprit of RealAudio which I'm about to dump as it still can't make a decent
Vista compatible version.

I agree. I use Avast and love it. Have never had a problem with it and it
doesn't impact my system at all. I love the screen saver that will do virus
scans behind any screen saver you want to use and the automatic updating of
virus definitions is a nice touch. Great little program. McAffe and Norton
are so bloated my system came to a halt using them. They were worse than
the virus they were supposed to protect me from.
