Sirs,
beg your pardon if this Q has been answered before - cannot find it...
Case: after upgrading my daughters computer with messenger 8.1.0178 and IE
7, as recommended by windows update, she can no longer be online with IE and
messenger Live simultaniously. It did work with Messenger 7.5 and IE 6.
No links from inside Messenger Live (hotmail, spaces) can be reached and IE
(6 or 7) always yields a 404 or 403.
IE works just fine, until Messenger starts to log-on. After Messenger is
closed, IE remains blocked until the computer is rebooted.
Other programs as BitDefender AV or Outlook Express can reach the net and
works normally.
I have reset IE 7 - no effect
I have de-installed IE 7 and reverted to IE 6 - problem persists
I have repaired Messenger Live - no effect
Virusscan w BitDefender 10, SpyBot, AdAware and HiJackThis says the computer
is clean.
We have ADSL 2MBit with a router, shared by three computers, have switched
positions for the cables.
WinXP Home SP 2, Athlon 3000+ (939), 762 MB, all updates, Office 2003
On the machine that I use (XP pro) Messenger 8.0 runs just fine with IE 7.
Have recieved advice from MS helpdesk in SWE but w/o success.
Hoping for any suggestions other than a clean re-install ?
Claes / SWE (who thought he knew XP good)
