Both IE and Firefox refuse to load any web pages. I know I'm online because
Yahoo messenger as well as AIM are both up and running. I can also search on
Limewire without a problem.

try https://www.bankofamerica.com or some other site you know starting
with https://

If that works then most likely your problem is a firewall blocking port
80, the other programs you mention that work alright don't use that port.

Try looking at your firewall settings or maybe "Parental Controls" or if
you have Anti-Virus software or similar installed try checking the
settings in that.... did this just start happening or is this a new
computer?

Still a big no. I even played with the firewall but still, not a thing.

This is a brand new computer, we've had it for around a month. I forgot to
add that Firefox stopped working after I did a upgrade to the newer Firefox.
I'd like to also mention that I've attempted to uninstall and reinstall an
older version of Firefox with no new results.

Tthe whole story finally comes out, lol.

Remove every version of Firefox off your computer. And I mean EVERY bit of it.
Then see if IE7 works.
If it does, reinstall the latest Firefox, and DON't transfer your IE7
Settings as you are installing it. Redo thenm manually in firefox.

And if you are running Norton(you tell us soooo much!!!!), right-click the
tray icon, to see if it has blocked the internet.

I haven't experienced that with Vista, but I have with XP.
Running lspfix.exe, downloaded from a reliable source, fixed it.
Sometimes aftrer removing spyware, the Layered Security Protocol is horked
and needs to be repaired.
in xpSP2 running 'netsh winsock reset' or such from the command line fixed
it also.
http://search.microsoft.com/results....US&q=lsp+vista
Another approach was to remove all network adapters from control
panel>hardware and allow windows to redetect and reinstall them, with XP,
that also rebuilt the lsp/winsock
