Normally this wouldn't bother me except that Windows update is a very slow
page to load.
After recently updating my computer via windows my browser, Internet
Explorer, will open up Windows Update, more specifically to this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir...r=6&ar=msnhome
which will eventually end here:
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp
Which is odd, because my home page is set under Internet Options to here:
http://www.google.com
Clicking on "Home" does load google, but not until Windows Update has
finished hijacking my browser. I have Ad-watch (an anti-spyware program) that
records each instance as a registry modification, it reads like this:
7/16/05 6:45:41 PM - Registry modification detected
Root:HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Key:Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
Value:First Home Pag
Data:
http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir...e5update&O1=b1
New Data:5
Other hints:
-Every page I open, opens with Windows Update reguardless of how many other
pages I have currently open on Windows update. (this does not happen when I
open a window via IE's File-New-Window, only when I click the "e" link)
-Following links that open a new window thankfully are not redirected to
Update.
-Reguardless of which "E" I click, via start, launch bar, windows explorer,
or my computer, I will be redirected to Update.
So my question is, how do I get this to stop? Thanks for any help.
