IE stopping working after updates installed

I installed the security updates and now my IE will 'stop' working after a
while. If I reboot, it starts working again.

By 'not working', I mean, window will open (or if one is already opened)
but nothing happens. On newly opened windows no 'address' on the bottom bar
appears and I am unable to go anywhere. If I refresh an open window, nothing
happens.

Thoughts? THX

I forgot to add,,,,,

In addition, when turning off puter, I have to manually hold on/off button
to turn off… will not turn off on own even though it says turning off.
