| Thanks for the note, TaurArian.
|
| I have no idea why Automatic Updates tried to install IE October 19. I was
| expecting AU to do that November 1. Anyway, when I clicked install yesterday
| (October 19), the IE installation went through the Automatic Updates Delivery
| Experience Screenshots sequence that's displayed on
|
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/upd...ouncement.mspx.
| Everything was going as expected, until AU began uninstalling the current
| version of IE. That's when it hung up the entire system - the moving cursor
| just kept moving from left to right, again and again. I could move the window
| around the desktop, but couldn't click on anything else. Even
| control/alt/delete didn't
| work. So, I restarted the system and tried the update once again, with the
| same results.
|
| The Release Notes for Internet Explorer 7 page was helpful. But when I tried
| (%windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe) to completely delete IE, as suggested,
| it also hung up the system.
|
| I wasn't getting anywhere so I did a system restore to a few days ago.
| Everything is back to normal, however, IE is missing quite a few functions,
| including the tools menu. In fact, I'm not even sure which version is running
| now. And Internet Options in Control Panel will not run.
|
| Any thoughts?
